Chapter 22

~ Charles

“Look, I don’t want to talk about it, so if you would excuse me, I have work to do,” Megan shunned me before she could continue, but her demeanor changed.

“The world doesn’t revolve around you, Charles; I am here to talk about my position,” Megan answered sharply, but I could see something flicker in her eyes. She was lying, but since she wanted to play dumb, I wouldn’t stop her.

“Alright. Sit and make it quick,” I responded, gesturing at the chair before my desk.

For the rest of the day after that meeting, we didn’t meet again until it was time to go home. Megan tried to make conversation with me, but I wasn’t in the mood, so I ignored her until she finally got the message.

A couple of days later, I got a message from my father, reminding me of the weekend getaway he planned for me and Megan. I couldn’t win the argument against the idea, so I decided to make it flexible.
