chapter 26

I woke up with a massive headache pounding at my head.

I touched my forehead with my right hand palm after I sat up in bed.

The events of the previous night slowly entered my head and I dropped my hand before I glanced at the space next to me.

I was relieved when I saw that Elijah was not there.

Last night, after I let the water run and washed Elijah's blood off of my feet, I'd returned to bed hoping I would pass out and every thing than happened would be in my nightmare.

But of course, it wasn't.

I could still remember the feeling of Elijah's blood on my feet. I could still remember the dark figure of the intruder sneaking around the hall.

I could remember the short but horrifying struggle between Elijah and the other man.

I could remember the injury Elijah got during the struggle.

But most of all, I could also remember how Elijah's arms had protectively wrapped around me to keep me safe.
