Chapter 8

Kai led me through a passageway in the villa that led to an hidden room in the house. Scared was an understatement, I felt fright creeping into the very pore of my being as he led me on.

Why was I scared, you might ask?

Well, for one, Kai was known to be a notorious drug dealer who allegedly worked for a Mafia Syndicate, who knows maybe they were traffickers too?

As much as the rational part of me screamed to run away, my legs were doing the opposite, following him sheepishly like a lamb to the slaughter.

He pressed a button hidden between an array of paintings seated beautifully on the wall. If that doesn't scream suspicious, I don't know what else would. I filed that away in my mind, reminding myself to ask him sometime later.

When the doors that camouflaged as a wall split open, I hesitated, contemplating making a run for it. Kai turned to give me an assuring glance but that didn't do much with my heart that had started to hammer frantically at my chest.
