“WHERE’S Summer?” she asked when Gideon opened the door widely.

She went inside and spun around to face him. The living room was utterly dark. If not for the lamp from the outside, she wouldn’t actually see the expression on his face.

“She is at my Mom’s. Rolle took her earlier.”

She took a long, deep breath. “You should’ve told me firsthand so I wouldn’t worry. I’m going to pick her up, or I’d rather spend the night there in case Summer doesn’t want to go home yet.”

Her eyes feasted on the darkness of the penthouse. It definitely looked lifeless.

“Spend the night here,” he said in a deep, low voice.

“I should be with Summer.”

“You should be with me too.”

Her forehead creased at his sudden statement. “What?”

“We’re married, right? You should be with me too. And you should be…” He took a deep breath and shook his head, walking past her.

“And I should be what?” she curiously asked as she followed him all the way to the kitchen.

“Have you eaten already?”
