When Casey grabbed her hand, Ava’s heart skipped a beat. She cursed silently, wishing that her body would not react like that. If only she could give into his words and take him seriously. If only she could ignore all the red flags and go for it. But it was just too much. She was betraying everything she knew. She would be an adulterer if she proceeded to do anything else with Casey. Which is why she wanted their night together to remain in the past. To remain a memory. A memory she wished she could get rid of.

“We should go on a date,” Ava, who was nose deep in a book, turned to Casey. They were in her apartment. After his therapy session with Klaire, he had gone home feeling more drained than usual and so he came to Ava’s apartment.
