3. Will you marry me?

She stood up hurriedly and rushed to meet the doctors, " how's my father, how's he doing, is he safe?"

"Calm down first miss, your father was badly injured and had lost a lot of blood. You did well to bring him just in time, he is now out of danger but will need time to heal, he has not woken up yet but you can see him for now. Don't say anything that will stress him, he needs to completely heal." She thanked the doctor and went inside the room where her dad was.

He was still sleeping, looking much better than how she had earlier found him. She held his hand and tears fell from her eyes. He was the only person she had in the entire world, her mother had died when she was young and her father had cared for her alone. She could not bare seeing him in that condition, her heart was broken in pieces.. she wanted to hug him and never let go.

Just then, the door opened and the receptionist walked in holding some papers. "This is what you have to pay and the drugs you need to buy for him immediately." She handed her the papers and walked out.

She looked at the list of drugs she had to buy, and the hospital bill, a total of $850 was written at the end of the paper. She was about to put the papers down when her heart skipped a bit and she looked at the total amount again in shock, her eyes bulged out. The total amount was $8500.

What? Her total savings could not amount to $1500, where will she get all this money. She looked at her dad, tears in her eyes. This man had sacrificed a lot for her but when he needs her, she can't afford to pay for his treatment.

She then remembered the card handed to her by the receptionist. She held it in her hands, wondering whether to dial the number or not. What will she tell him? Hadn't he helped her more than enough? She didn't even know the man. But she was in desperate need of help. She took out her phone and dialled the number, it connected almost immediately.

A deep voice answered the phone, " Luke Maxwell, how may I help you?"

"Hello, my name is Anne, you helped bring my father to the hospital earlier today and I never had the chance to talk to you, I would love to personally thank you."

After inquiring about her father's health, he booked an appointment with her that evening.

At around 5:30pm, a taxi pulled up at a huge blue gate written in bold white letters, THE BLUE EAGLE COMPANY. A young lady wearing a simple yellow dress stepped out  and hurried towards the gate. It was Anne, carrying a parcel. After showing her identity card she was led to the receptionist who showed her to the CEO's office. He was busy with his computer filling in some information, he stopped doing what he was doing and welcomed his guest.

"Please have a seat," he pointed at a seat opposite his desk.

"Thank you sir," she sat down, not knowing what to say next. They sat in an awkward silence, each waiting for the other to start. Here she was, in front of the famous Luke Maxwell, the almighty CEO of Blue Eagle's. She was nothing compared to this man. She gently lifted the parcel she had been carrying and placed it on the table, she unwrapped it to reveal a very beautiful picture of a flowing river in the middle of bushes.

" I brought this gift to thank you for saving my dad's life."

He looked at the picture but did not move to take it. She started trembling, was it bad? Didn't he want it?

"I did what needed to be done, there's no need to thank me." He looked at the lady in front of him, she was beautiful. He took the picture and placed it on his side. An idea came in his mind, he looked at her and murmured to himself, " she's a good candidate."

Anne looked at him dazzled, why was this man talking to himself? Did he say I'm a good candidate? What for?

Noticing the look on her face, he asked "how would you like to work for me? I'll give you one year contract with upfront payment."
