4. Mrs. Maxwell

She opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out, she looked at the man, was he insane? He barely know me! She stood up, thought of leaving but decided against it. Was he joking?

"What kind of contract, you barely know me!"

"I don't need to know you, you only have to sign the contract and follow the rules, I'll make the payment right away."

"How can I sign a contract I don't know anything about?" She asked.

"It's a marriage contract, I don't have to explain anything about it. You will be my wife for a year, after that we can go our separate ways, the rules are you move in with me and act as my wife whenever we are in public. In my house, you will have a separate room, and everything you need will be provided. I will pay a hundred thousand dollars once you sign the contract. Think carefully and let me know your answer."

Her eyes were now wide open, she could not hide the look on her face. A hundred thousand dollars? That will take her several years to save with the kind of job she had. She could buy a new house and a car for her dad, start a small business for him. This was a lot of money. She looked at him for a long time, her heart torn in between. If she said no, her father will probably not wake up any time soon. If she said yes, what will happen? She will be bound to a man she don't know for a whole year. What was she going to choose?

"I will sign it." She was not sure whether it was the right decision, but she had made her choice, there was no turning back.

Luke opened a safe and removed a contract he had prepared a few days ago. He handed her the papers. After carefully reading and understanding the contract, Anne signed her name. She then gave him her bank details and the money was transferred immediately.

" You should move in, in a weeks time. I need to introduce you to my family as my wife."

Anne did not answer, she turned around and left, a feeling of guilt all over her face. She walked out of the company and hailed a taxi to the hospital. She was lost deep in thoughts. What had she done? How will her father react to this?

She paid all the bills and bought the drugs. She walked into her father's room and went inside. He was still unconscious, she sat down and soon fell asleep.
