Chapter 29

Dad’s face lit up like it was the fourth of July, it’s the same face he gave me when he told me about his promotion, and he wraps me in his arms and hugs me.

“Oh, my baby girl I am so proud of you that is fantastic news we must celebrate tonight, after dinner, we are going out for ice cream I don’t care if you’re too old for it now I want to celebrate your success.”

“Thanks, Dad I like the sound of that, and I know just the place too it’s this little ice cream parlor I saw down on the pier at the beach they have a sundae called the brownie exploder.”

“That sounds like an ice cream I could enjoy too.” He smiles at me and squeezes me as I’m still wrapped up in his arms. I turn and look over Dad’s shoulder.

“Toni you’re more than welcome to join us if you would like.”

Dinner was delicious, one of the best pasta dishes I’ve eaten in years. Once it was all cleaned up and dishes and cutlery put away in the dishwasher it was time to go for our celebratory dessert.
