Evelyn was fed up and annoyed of all the chatter and laughter in the place when her eyes paused at someone, Amaya, whom she used to notice even in the past. That person set her heart at peace and gave her butterflies.
Amaya wanted to run away, she hated crowded places but she was here for just that one person, Evelyn, her unreqruited love. It had been several years but still, those feelings and that happiness that this person brought her was still the same.
A reunion, a place filled with happiness but it still had two sad people there. Evelyn and Amaya, two opposites. One was the most popular girl in school while the other one, a loner that no one ever cared about. But what they had in common was their past that no one knew about. It was that one thing that brought the both of them closer...

"It's so nice to meet you again," A girl said as she laid her bag on the table. The rest of the people who had already arrived greeted her just as they had for others. It had been 3 years since they last saw each other, which was on the last day of high school, and now the president of the batch 2017 had contacted all of them and invited them to the reunion. Everyone was laughing loudly and enjoying themselves; talking about the old times and how they had been doing after that. In the corner sat a quiet girl, brown eyes and black hair, she was pretty but the aura around her was dark enough to keep them away. “Evelyn! Come and sit with us, it’s been so long, you can’t just stay quiet the whole time.” The president called out to her and she smiled lightly.

Everyone was just shocked to see Evelyn with Amaya. They both were the complete opposite of each other, so why were they together now. “I met Amaya outside,” Evelyn said and Amaya greeted everyone, not getting a proper reply from most of them. The smile on Amya’s face was still consistent even when she already knew that most of them hated her. But the person who hated her the most at that point was Valeria, she couldn’t stand her, not in the past, not even now. Valeria always felt like she was the best and when Amaya topped the exams, it pissed her off so she started making people hate her by spreading rumors about her. “How was I so stupid? How could I fall for her so easily? Why did I let my walls down for her? It hurts… She’s one of the most popular people in the school and I’m a nobody, I’m just a loser who can’t even make any friends! What the hell was I expecting? She would like me back, no she would just hate someone like me! You don’t deserve any love, you didn’t get any love from your parents! How can you expect it from somewhere else? Just die already! You’re just a fucking burden on everyone!!” Evelyn was shocked after reading all that. Unexpectedly she had tears in her eyes. How could someone love this much and yet hate themselves so much? She picked up a pencil and started writing on the next page, she didn’t know who this person was but she wanted to help them. She was worried about them and wanted to know them.

After sometime Evelyn was finally outside the building that Amaya lived in. She was breathing heavily and bent down to catch her breath. She had a smile on her face as she felt a little happy seeing herself making an effort to do something for herself. She was finally starting to move on from her past. She had started to resent herself after Valeria left her and had started to hate herself at one point, but now she has finally started to get over it, she was running for her own happiness for once. Taking a deep breath, Evelyn knocked on Amaya’s door. She was nervous about what was going to happen if Amaya would be happy to see her there or not. “Evelyn, good job today.” The boss patted Evelyn’s shoulder before she left the restaurant. Everyone was congratulating her because she had managed to crack a big deal that day and was also promoted to a higher rank. They all were proud of her as she had achieved a lot after just a year of working in that company. They all had a lot of drinks that day but they were planning to go for a second round. Evelyn smiled as she saw all of them leave the place; she wasn’t going with them cause she needed to head home. She sighed and sat down in her chair as she was really tired.
