5. Drunk Lais

SEBASTIAN RUSSO….

“Though I'm your biggest fan, we have never met before.” Lais chuckled and said.

I wasn't surprised to hear that she was my fan. Because there were millions of girls who were crazy for me. But her face reminded me of someone close to me whom I lost sixteen years back.

I heard a knock on the door and Lais responded. “Come in." I watched Tina walking while holding a pair of nightsuits. She was stunned to be present in the room but quickly bowed her head before me then left the room after giving the clothes to Lais.

“You must be exhausted. Go and freshen up. I will make a move then." She nodded her head with a beautiful smile, making my heart skip a beat. And it was strange. As I have never felt that way before for anyone except my mate Seraphira. I had never seen such a beautiful smile before. And her dimples made her look more beautiful.

I was looking at her way more than a decent moment so I just looked away from her. I walked out of the room only to run into my Stepmom.

“What were you doing there?" She asked me squinting her eyes at me.

“Nothing. Just went to see if she was comfortable here." I tried to brush her off with a quick answer but she wasn't going to let me off the hook so easily.

“Really! That's very thoughtful of you. By the way, you never bring a girl home. What's so special about her? I know she saved Shanaya but you could have sent her back with someone. But you bring her home. What's the matter? Am I missing something?” Her eyes were sparkling as she asked me curiously and I rolled my eyes.

"Your imaginations are really wild. It's not what you are thinking. She was betrayed by her mate and was rejected. And was banished from her pack. Though she looked strong, you should know she wasn't fine at all. That's why I offered help.”

“She was going to the Silver Moon Pack and you know it's very far away. That's why I offered her to stay the night here just to show my gratitude. That's it. Nothing more or less. So stop thinking nonsense, Mrs. Nerissa Gray Russo.”

She narrowed her eyes at me but gave me her full-blown smile. “I was just curious if you like that girl. I know it's not possible. But still, miracles happen. And I wish some miracle happens in your life too. I want to see you smiling again.” I could see genuine care in her eyes.

“Miracle happens only in fairy tales, Mrs. Russo. And it's real life. So that's not possible. She will leave in the morning. Make sure she has a great time here.” Saying that I walked off from there before she could say something more.

Though she was my stepmother she treats us as her own children. She doesn't have any children because she didn't want us to feel neglected because of her own child. When Mom died giving birth to Shanaya I was already fifteen years old.

Dad didn't want to have another baby after me because of her weak health. But she wanted to give a daughter to my father as he wanted a daughter after me. While giving birth to Shanaya her condition got worse and she couldn't make it. I was glad my father never hated Shanaya for that as our father loves our mother a lot.

Nerissa was my grandfather's friend's daughter who loved our father for a long time. Our grandfather forced our father to marry her. I was against the marriage thinking that she might be like some other evil stepmothers. But to my surprise when I met her for the first time she won my heart. But I never called her Mom.

She has been really worried for me after my Mate left me. She always tried to arrange a match for me. But I always declined all the blind dates arranged by her. She knew very well it was impossible for me to feel for another girl. Still, she never loses hope.

I went to my favorite place, to the rooftop. There was a large pool and a bar next to it. When I feel lonely I go there to kill my time and drown myself in the alcohol to get rid of the pain temporarily.

I was enjoying my drink when a sweet scent of fresh rose and vanilla hit my nostrils as it wafted throughout the whole place. I looked at the entrance of the Rooftop to find Lais advancing towards me.

‘What is she doing here?’

“I hope I didn't spoil your personal moment, Alpha Sebastian." She said sheepishly while slipping to the next seat beside me.

“No," saying that I took a sip of my whiskey.

"I have heard alcohol makes you feel good and helps you to forget everything for a while. You know it was a hard day for me. I want to forget everything. I hope you won't mind me having some drinks with you.”

Lais blinked her eyes making a cute face with hope. “Let me make you a drink." Saying that I picked up a glass for her.

“Please, something strong." I snapped my head to look at her and found her looking at the starry sky with a gloomy look. I could see the pain in her eyes. So I took out my strongest whiskey bottle and poured it for her. When I was about to put ice on it she picked up the glass and gulped it in one go and squeezed her eyes when she felt her throat burning.

But she asked for another. “One more." I poured another one. And she gulped it immediately. “Not working. Give me the bottle." Saying that she snatched the bottle from me and started taking shots one after another.

She almost finished the bottle when I snatched the bottle from her hand. “Stop drinking now. You have drunk enough.” I was glaring by then.

She looked up at me with her moist eyes. And surprisingly it pained me to see tears in her eyes. “It's a lie that alcohol makes you forget everything. Because it's still aching here.” She smacked the left side of her chest and said with her hoarse voice. Two fat tears rolled down from her beautiful light grey eyes followed by another two.

“I loved him for four years with all my heart only to get betrayed by him. I don't want to cry over that asshole but I can't help. It hurts. Hurts like hell.” She again hit her heart while tears were streaming down her face.

I didn't know how to console her. But I felt bad for her. And strangely my heart was aching for her. “I will not leave him. I will take revenge on him for treating me like a shit and cheating on me. He has to pay for everything he has done to me. I couldn't let those people get off the hook so easily.” Lais yelled while banging the table, seething in outrage.

“Cheaters deserve to get punished. They should never be let off the hook easily. If you want I can help you to take revenge on him. By the way, what pack you belonged to?” I asked her but before she could say something she knocked off on the table. I went near her to keep her from falling.

“Lais. Lais, wake up." I tapped her cheek to wake her up but she was not waking up.

“Wake up and go back to your room.” She didn't even budge from her place. Having no other choice I lifted her up in my arms and took her back to her room. Whoever noticed me gasped in shock but I didn't pay any attention to them.

Why did I have to take her to her room? I could have told someone to do that. But I didn't like the idea of someone touching her that's why I didn't ask someone to send her back to her room.

An omega helped me to open the door and I walked to her bed to put her on the bed. When I was pulling back from her suddenly she wrapped her arms around my neck stopping me from going back.

She opened her eyes half and looked into my eyes with her flushed face. “I like you." I was taken aback by her words.

“What?" I exclaimed in disbelief when she fell asleep again and her arms slipped from my neck. I kept looking at her in utter disbelief then just ran off from there.

“She's drunk. She must be talking nonsense." I tried to make myself understand while I was going back to my room. My heart was hammering inside my ribcage.

Why am I feeling this way?
