Ava's POV.

"What do I do now?"

The question continued to echo relentlessly in my mind, each iteration fueling my growing anxiety.

"No, she can't do anything like that! She promised to disappear after three months!" I repeated to myself, trying to calm the uproaring thoughts raging within me.

To distract myself, I decided to leave my room and fetch a cold glass of juice, hoping it would quell the fire burning through my veins.

Worry and frustration clawed at my insides, threatening to spill the secret we had between us.

If I dwelled on the matter any longer, I feared I might act impulsively, revealing more than I intended.

Descending the stairs, I heard a familiar voice greeting everyone. Turning to see the source, my heart froze, and its rapid thumping resumed with a vengeance.

A surge of anger washed over me as I laid eyes on Adora, her ponytail swinging casually as she approached, bag in hand.
