Reynolds' POV.

Lost in the whirlwind of organising the scattered files on my desk, time slipped away unnoticed.

The urgency to clear the leftovers of the day's tasks was driven by a desire to avoid the incoming mess that would hinder my plan for the next day.

The looming possibility of heading home provoked a sense of reluctance in me.

The office, suddenly, seemed like a hideout where I could find comfort away from the incessant presence and troubles of Ava.

Her constant demands for attention or discussions about having another child had created a yearning for the peacefulness of the office space.

Coming out from my office, the dimly lit hallway welcomed me, a familiar path during the night hours.

However, an unexpected flash of light disrupted the darkness that was supposed to surround everywhere, compelling me to turn towards its source.

“She's still here?” I muttered, my eyes widening with surprise.

Just then, a fleeting doubt lingered: "Or did she forget to turn off the light?
