Kayla's POV.

"Is he back already?" I thought to myself as my gaze shifted to the direction of the door the moment I heard the knock.

I was positive Alpha Reynolds had left for the company, and hearing knocks on the door made it difficult for me to figure out what had happened.

When the knock sounded again, I got out of bed and strolled over to the door without hesitation.

Taking a deep breath, I reached for the door handle and opened it, wanting to ask Alpha Reynolds why he had returned so abruptly, but the moment I pulled it open, my heart fell and I couldn't help but freeze in my tracks.

"Mrs. Becky!" My eyes opened widely as I looked at my stepmother, who was beaming viciously at me as she stood right in front of me.

If there was anyone I was expecting to see, it was certainly not Mrs. Becky with her venomous gaze at me.

"Are you that surprised to see me that you can't tell me to come in?" She asked, her voice as nasty as ever.

She simply wasn't going to care about my health
