Seventy

I beamed with joy and my lips curling up into a bright smile as I slipped my hand into Natalia's. Freedom washed over me as we stepped out of the confines of the cell.

I let out a satisfied sigh. My mind was flooded with positive thoughts, filled with visions of a bright future and endless possibilities. The world felt fresh and full of promise, and I was eager to embrace it all.

But my excitement was short-lived when my gaze fell upon Natalia's rigid body. She looked tense and her lips were pressed into a thin line, as if she was struggling to contain a tremble.

I sensed that something was amiss and grew concerned.

"Are you alright? You're acting weird."

Her smile faltered before she forced it back into place. "Me? I'm...I'm fine," she stammered. She was nervous and betrayed her true emotions.

She led me to a red car parked in the driveway and opened the back door. There was someone in the driver's seat, and I tried to pick out his face. He was a middle-aged man with salt-and-peppe
