Chapter 17

(Kaeleigh’s POV)

I walked into the room with hesitation and was surprised to see Chase leaning against the back wall. He stood up and smiled at me. He made a move to step forward towards me, but I moved away from him. He stopped and looked hurt, but then nodded and stepped back again.

“Welcome to the pack,” he said quietly and smiled. I forced a polite smile on my face, but I think it came out more as a grimace.

The Beta closed the door and walked round to stand behind and to the right of the Alpha, his face completely expressionless now. The Alpha looked up from a file that he was reading from. “Ah, Miss Buckley,” he smiled. “Please take a seat.” He indicated another leather chair in front of his desk.

(cont.) she needs to know and also if I was forced into something that felt like a prison and also stripped of my only know family and identity I would feel similar. being your own boss and making your own choices for majority of your life and suddenly having to answer to people. that's a struggle.

I get why she is acting like a teen, she really has been sheltered and when she has ventured out the experience have turned into traumatic events. so she needs to still grow emotionally and mentally. she needs to realize that. but I get why she is upset right now. no one has told her about herself.
