(Kaeleigh’s POV)
I walked into the room with hesitation and was surprised to see Chase leaning against the back wall. He stood up and smiled at me. He made a move to step forward towards me, but I moved away from him. He stopped and looked hurt, but then nodded and stepped back again.
“Welcome to the pack,” he said quietly and smiled. I forced a polite smile on my face, but I think it came out more as a grimace.
The Beta closed the door and walked round to stand behind and to the right of the Alpha, his face completely expressionless now. The Alpha looked up from a file that he was reading from. “Ah, Miss Buckley,” he smiled. “Please take a seat.” He indicated another leather chair in front of his desk.

(Kaeleigh’s POV)“What offer?” My interest was piqued.“You will be assigned to work with Emmerson on the pack businesses,” he stated. I had a feeling that this was non-negotiable in his eyes, but it sure was going to be up for discussion with me. It seemed pretty suspicious that he would know about my involvement with Ezra’s and Jeremy’s business. I always made a point of not being mentioned or taking any credit for their business dealings. I just gave ideas. It was up to them to decide if they should act upon it. So for Alpha Stone to know that I was involved, no matter how small, made me cautious. (Kaeleigh’s POV)I was awed by all the people heading towards the main pack house. Families with children running around and groups of friends all laughing and smiling. There really was a buzz of excitement in the air.
