Failure

"Luna, why are you standing there? Everyone wishes they could talk to you directly." Thalia, who had been running small, was now right in front of me. She was smiling so broadly that I had to fake a smile.

Today was the day of the medical checkup for the elderly who were no longer of productive age. Every once a month there would be a mass checkup at the Celestial Dawn pack field. That was because most old people were prone to disease.

I widened my gaze. Earlier, some of them were staring hatefully at Thalia who was a stranger and others were welcoming her like any other guest, but when I locked eyes with them, they immediately smiled and bowed their heads respectfully.

I let out a long breath. How could Thalia smile so much when she was in an environment like this? Did she need to act to this extent?
