69: Chaotic energy

Elaine’s POV

Orlo and Riley were drawn to the dance floor by the pulsating beat of the music, their laughter and excitement mingling with the rhythm of the crowd, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over me.

With their departure, the booth suddenly felt emptier, the absence of their lively presence leaving a void in the air. And as I glanced around the booth, my gaze fell upon Killian, who sat opposite me, his expression unreadable.

For a moment, we sat in silence, the only sound the distant thump of the music and the murmur of voices from the surrounding crowd. It was a tense and uncomfortable silence, punctuated only by the occasional exchange of glances between us.

But then, as if on cue, the other guy who had been sitting with us stood up, a half-naked girl draped over his arm as they made their way towards the dance floor. And just like that, Killian and I were left alone in the booth, the sudden shift in dynamics leaving an awkward tension hanging in the air.
