Chapter 2

Erin~

Shit!

Shit!

Damn it!

Erin cursed silently, his heart pacing. He tore his gaze from those startled eyes and pale face as he turned back down the side street, his feet quietly and hurriedly down the cobbled sidewalk, as he dashed towards the alley. He knew she was scared of the dark and wouldn't dare take a step closer even at gunpoint.

Shit!

'Why is she heading this way? The lit street is in the other direction, damn it! Does she have a f***ing death wish?!' His mind was raised with all possible questions as he tried escaping from her…but …

A soft weaving voice called out his name in the frozen street, they sounded like summer as they warmed his cold and troubled heart. It was just like how it was 6 years ago when they met each other. It was like how they were when he first tasted the taste of her skin, and when she whispered with a sigh. That unforgettable voice is now in pain.

"Erin? Is that you?" Her voice cracks at the last part.

His legs almost paused against his will and his body wanted to go ahead without his command, wanting to run toward her and hug her.

He had reached the alley so there was no turning back. He breathed in the cold air as he darted in, quickly positioned in the dark doorway at the back of an apartment building.

Soon, the sounds of hurried footsteps approached as they slowed down to where he was, just two feet away from his position.

Silent engulfed the surroundings as there was no movement from the both of them. Above his head was an emergency ladder and curtains glinted in the dark, at least for his supernatural sight. He was very sure she wouldn't take notice of all this.

She feared the dark like how she feared spicy food.

The seconds suffocated him, his hands were clenched against his side resisting the temptation to run towards her and kiss the air out of her but soon approaching footsteps to the open mouth of the alley disrupted his silly thoughts. Although he knew she wouldn't see him from the dark, he subconsciously pressed his body against the wall as he cursed at his weakness.

Had he known he wouldn't have followed her. If she turns and sees him it's going to lead to a deep mess between them.

Shit!

His heart pounded against his rib cage as he saw her silhouette getting closer, but they stopped a few feet away from him.

Curious and relieved at the same time, he tried to escape from there but a phone disrupted his plan.

He paused, his two ears perked out, listening to the conversation. The hairs on his arms stood up as silence ungloved the other side.

Was she okay?

"Erin? Are you there?" His heart broke into pieces, and adrenaline shot to him cracking light lightning into his brain, as he stood motionless.

He heard a deep sigh, at first he thought she could see through him but what he heard next broke him down.

"Silly me, why would I think of him being here of all places?" Her voice muffled maybe from the coat she wore or the sob she suppressed.

His heart died on hearing that, his hands covering his face, praying for strength not to let in. He heard her whisper fiercely, now he was the asshole that made her cry.

In the middle of his sorrow, his hair stood on end as he heard the distinctive siren of one of the agency cars fastly approaching. The silver light flashed across the doorway, deepening the darkness around him, he heaved a sigh of relief as they passed by. But the angry roar of the engines didn't fade, Instead, they slowed down to an idle.

They weren't passing? He suppressed the urge of leaping out of the dark. They dare think about taking Amelia.

"Excuse me, ma'am, are you okay?" A polite friendly voice called out from the street, "Do you need a ride home?"

Erin's heart dropped to his belly, he recognized that voice, Jude, the bastard. Erin gritted his teeth, a growl sounded in his throat before he could stop it. But no one noticed it, Including Amelia who was close to him. She was busy fending off the person.

With her high-pitched strong voice, any time she was scared.

"No sir! Thanks for the invitation, my apartment Is right around the block, I was just searching for my key if I dropped it somewhere," She said.

"Oh is that so? But if you still want a driver home. I have one with me w-"The friendly voice said out loud but was interrupted.

"I am very fine, mister!" She said, retreating to the street.

Erin's heart went at ease. She can go back to her friend's house Alex or one of his 'colleagues' will leave her to witness around.

"Ah, sorry. Okay then get home safely, it's dangerous out here!"

"I will thank you!"

Her hills clippers hurriedly on the sidewalk as the car pulled away towards her opposite destination.

Erin was relieved on seeing this.

"I'm very sure she will go to her friend's house--"

Then he heard her footsteps change signaling she was changing direction towards the roadside.

His eyes widened upon seeing this, he quickly ran out from his position as he stared at the street. A petite figure in a heavy coat walked unsteadily crossing the street.

Shit!

What the f##k is she thinking? Still stroking to her apartment. I thought she was smarter than this!

He dashed out from the doorway silently approaching him. He held his breath to avoid her but his heart was the opposite. It was exciting to feel her touch and talk to her after these years, not from hiding in the dark or the canteen

The car will be here in 30 secs round the block. He knew what was about to happen, he knew she was about to put herself into a dangerous situation, he can't just let It happen.

She will be pulled forcefully into the car and locked in the tight sound-proof and dark-tinted glass. She will be taken into the interrogation room, and questioned, about a man she didn't ever want to see. A name that brings pain to her.

Her scent drifted into his nostril, twisting him inside with mixed memories. He tried suppressing her scent but it was harder when close to her.

She turned and stepped on the stairs of her apartment completely oblivious that she had been followed but halfway through she felt the vibration of the stairs and turned to look, but a huge hand clasped against her mouth as a strong force pulled her into the dark.

Soon the sound of an incoming car pulled out in the street as the engine roared angrily fastly approaching reaching the place there were a few seconds later.

The lady bit against his palm as she tried to escape from his grasp.

"Amelia, please stay quiet for a moment," He whispered fiercely, suppressing the growl in his throat, doing everything in his possible best to calm the beast in him.

"Erin?!" Her voice raised but sounded like a muffle because of his hands. They sounded like "Eyin?"

He pulled her harder into the dark as the car slowed down and flashes its light across the street.

He never wanted to ignore her question but the situation right now was not suitable for discussion.

Amelia sucked in cold air, her eyes widening and blurred as her mind was filled with thoughts. He knew what she was thinking, she thought of him not here and was kidnapped by someone else.

He sighed as he tightened his grip on her mouth when one of the people in the car opened the door and stepped out.

He knew what they wanted but he was never going to give it to them.

"Amelia, please calm down! This is not a time for fighting, just trust me on this," He cursed almost immediately at the last part.

Who was he kidding?

Telling the same woman he left 6 years ago after having the taste of her skin to trust him. It will be a miracle if that happens.

Just as he thought about that a sting appeared on his left leg as a heel smashed against his leg.

Amelia toiled hard from his grasp but he didn't give her a chance.

Crash!
