Chapter 3

Crash!

They both stood still as they stared at the broken vase on the floor, its contents spilled out. Erin's eyes went cold immediately and Amelia started shivering.

Shit!

"Damn it!" He growled as he saw the bastard approaching them. What the fuck is a vase doing here of all places. Not having time to think about such a mistake, Erin dragged the lady in his arms down the gloomy street hiding from one alley to the other as the angry roar of engines trails off behind them.

"They will be here at any second! Just listen to me for once! Please get up on your feet, if you get caught you are going to die!" He whispered fiercely, his eyes narrowed.

He felt something wet on the hand clapping over her mouth but he didn't bother to release her. He knew she was in a state of confusion but he wasn't in the mood to talk. Watching from a corner as the car stopped, Its light flashed ahead of the gloomy snowy street.

"Do you have your car around here? Just nod- or shake you're… no? Shit!" He cursed when the lady said her car wasn't around here.

He glanced around finding out an escape route, then boom like lady luck was finally smiling at him. Just three steps away from them a car stopped and a man alighted from it with goods in his hands. The car was still powered on.

Although it was dangerous to run over there without being seen by those pigs, at least he can dodge someone. He waited patiently for some minutes as the man entered his house then boom!

He dashed forward instantly appearing before the car!

It felt like the world slowed down, nothing amiss. The people in the car didn't turn off the light but they seemed to have noticed something as they drove towards where the car was.

"Shit! No time to waste," He dragged her forcefully inside the car, mouthing a sorry. Got in the driver's seat ignoring the 'Wear-your-seat-belt-' sign as his foot stepped on the acceleration gas.

Creech!

The car screeched out as it drove out speedingly on a snowy night. As if noticing someone was amiss the owner of the car came out a second late but it was too late the car was already gone, and only his yelling was heard accompanied by the pursuit of another car.

Amelia felt her heart about to be removed from her chest as she stared at the man who had disappeared for years. It felt so unreal like he was a fake but the things that happened made her more confused and felt like she was in a dream.

"I must be dreaming, sigh! Looks like I need a lot more rest these days," She said, sighing.

Soon, the car made a sharp turn, which resulted in her hitting the car door with her head.

Ouch!

A trace of blood appeared on her head as she stared at the fast-moving scenery before her. This wasn't a dream, this was real!

"Erin?! Is that you?!" She asked unsurely.

Instead, a growl came out In response, "How many times will you ask this question? Can't you see it's me?"

He said changing the gears as he tried to escape the pursuit of the car that was fast approaching them!

He wasn't skilled in driving but he knew some tricks. Soon they drove out of the street towards a vast sand hill which was covered in snow by now. The trees are all dead, and the animals froze. Only the sounds of vehicles pursuing each other were heard.

The angry roar of engines accompanied by the curses from both sides made the frozen night light a little because of their car's headlight.

"Erin? What is going on? Why are we being pursued by the same car earlier?" She asked nervously, her eyes staring at the vehicle fastly approaching.

Erin didn't answer her but pressed harder on the gas moving a distance away. At this rate they were going to enter a forest, let's just hope they survived.

"Quit talking, I have a plan," He said calmly. He always stays calm when he sees the situation he was in was out of his control, he never changed since they last met.

Amelia gritted her teeth swallowing a grudge as she stared at him in anticipation.

But the next words that came out of his mouth almost made her strangle him.

"What is the plan?" She asked.

He snorted at her and asked the most stupid question in the world.

"We jump!" He said fiercely, making a sharp turn to the left. The car screeched hard, bringing up a spray of snow on the ground. The car accelerates towards the forest that looks like a hill.

Amelia stared at him like a fool, trying to comprehend what he just said. Maybe she heard wrong, she thought.

"Stop dazing out and get the fuck together! I count 3 and we jump out ass outta here, there's no time to space out!" He said angrily as he set the car on auto drive.

"Are you ready? We jump at once okay?!" He said from the driver's seat. His eyes pierced into hers.

She shook her head scared at the madness that was about to happen. If they happen to jump out from this moving car in this dangerous forest, forget about surviving because the only thing waiting for them is death from the floor.

"Fuck it, Amelia! Can't you listen to me for once?! Trust me on this?" He growled.

She wanted to refute him but she was too tongued-tied to speak. The next thing she felt was her being dragged as his mouth moved as a sign of him counting.

She closed her eyes as the world turned silent. Her breath quickened as she felt a great pull from her shoulder, the force in them like they were going to tear her part but a solid and warm body covered her.

…1!

Bang!

Crash!

She felt her body being pulled but her eyes were too heavy to open up. She heard a distinct whisper but couldn't grasp what they were saying!

The only thing she felt was the hard push on her shoulders and the sharp ring in her head like they were about to tear her apart.

"Amelia! Wake up!" Like a movie the world cleared and the sounds of birds chirping entered her ears. Her eyes slowly opened as the vast stars in the sky appeared before her. A pair of icy yet captivating eyes appeared before her with worries in them.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?" Erin asked worriedly for how many years now?
