I walked back to the my hostel, feeling so much better. It was so nice to have such a refreshing conversation with Mike. He may be annoying, but I knew I could count on him when push comes to shove, and that gives me immense relief. I placed a hand on my tummy in a bid to make the hunger pangs go away. It didn’t do that, instead it grew much worse. My eyes flickered open, as a yawn escaped my lips. Damn! I was so hungry. I stretched my hands over my head, and then, stepped out of the comfort of my bed. My left over snacks sat at the front of my desk. It would do till I got something more edible. I walked into class an hour later, my mind a whirlwind. I was so glad that Ian wasn’t in this class. After what happened the previous day, I didn’t want to see him. It was too much stress, and I was already stressed out. The break he is giving me was very much welcomed. The teacher, a petite lady came in a couple of minutes later, and we said our polite hellos in response. She made herself comfortable and her chair, and I settled for doodling away on my notebook. I tried to release his grip on my arm, but I couldn’t. His grip was ironclad, and I suddenly felt like my hands will fall off my shoulders. I could hear scrambling. “No, you’re not. Where are you?” He demanded. I used my free hand to clean my eyes profusely, like he was here, and would be able to see me. “Maya, tell me what really happened when I had called you,” Mike said sternly. I avoided his gaze, as I looked towards the dense overgrowth. I could feel his gaze on me. I was at a loss on what to say. I felt his heavy steps as he approached, which only made me move away from him. “Tell me, what happened,” he demanded fiercely. I turned back towards him, he was two steps away from me. His eyes were soft as he looked at me. I felt like I could rely on him to help me out. I felt so odd thinking about it. “Nothing is wrong.
