Feeling distant and cold, I interjected abruptly, "What?"

He wasn't naive; with just one look, he could discern that I was far from being content. This wasn't the first instance he had caught me wearing such an inexplicable expression.

"Um, it's nothing," Zeeb remarked with a perplexed yet scrutinizing expression.

He wasn't a fool so he could sense that something wasn't right. However, he truly is a fool, if he thinks it's fine trying to inspect and figure out the situation.

With a sneer, I asked directly. “What brought you over to my office? Shouldn't you be downstairs with them?”

The ‘them’ I was referring to was Emily and her parents. They are always just up to no good, so I can't help but
