'What about me?' The words were at the tip of her tongue but she didn't say them. She kept mum with her heart throbbing in her throat.

Now he knew, she and her brother were innocent but she knew, he would still keep her hostage.

'Think of Joshua. At least he would be free.' She tried to console herself but she wanted to be with her brother. She wanted her old life back.

"I'm sorry," He rasped in his deep voice as she slowly turned to face him. Their gazes locked.

She quietly flitted her eyes away before walking to the small table. She picked the glass piece for decor and faced him.

Her eyes bore into his with hostility and emptiness. "This is me," her face was devoid of any emotion, and the girl let the piece fall on the floor, crashing it into millions of sharp little pieces. The crashing noise echoed in the murky silence of the room. The drapes kept the glow of light to invade the room.

Axel inhaled sharply as he scrutinized her, trying to decipher her. Her terse tone worried him.
