My trip back home was peaceful, I confirmed that no one was following me before paying the driver. Carver’s advice to conceal my pups’ scent by using a taxi and Mr. Smith’s car was indeed helpful. Unfortunately, the sight of Beta Alex’s anxious face in the crowd proved that clingy lycan right. Now the list of his favors was extending, he would be a real headache in upcoming days.

The elevator of my building was busy like every other time. The memory of Carver’s complaint flashed across my mind.

“Why are you always impatient for the elevator, love?”
