Cora looks at me with a comforting smile. I trust in her and that she knows what she was talking about, but I also couldn’t help but wonder where she has gotten her vast knowledge from.

She tells me, “The guardian wolf was created to protect the white wolf, hence your large size. The white wolf is meant to heal and help her pack be stronger and the guardian wolf is meant to do exactly what a guardian means. You would protect her and keep her safe.”

Maven sits down on the edge of my bed and holds my hand. I keep my other arm on my chest on the sheet I have covering my naked body.

Maven says, “So, when you mentioned the ‘white wolf’ to me, you knew that it actually existed.”

She nods slowly and says, “I did.”

There’s a knock on the door and Maven opens it and in walks Penelope. She brushes her black hair behind her ear, and she stops when she sees Cora. She tilts her head in confusion as she says, “Cora? What are you doing here?”
