Astrid's POV:

The young maid’s words turned my life upside down in a matter of seconds. I was shocked and devastated that my mother wasn’t in her chamber. What could have gone wrong? Several possibilities haunted my mind, and I feared for the worst.

Another maid, who appeared to be an elder, noticed my concern and intervened. “What's wrong?” she asked with worry flashing in her eyes.

“The woman—my mother. She’s not here.” I gestured to the younger maid. “She told me no one lives here. But my mother did. I visited her a few days ago.”

“Oh, please don't worry.” She gestured to the younger maid. “This is a newly hired maid, and she doesn't know. Your mother was moved to the royal chambers two days ago by Alpha himself.”

I sighed in relief and happiness, knowing Alpha finally decided to show my mother some respect. He had changed a lot in the past few days.

After I thanked the maid, she returned a smile, then went on her way with the other maid.
