I had slept maybe three hours that night. My body was exhausted from the weekends events, but I tossed and turned, thinking about Seth. And Jonas. His tiny face kept running through my head. I could see him running up to me, arms wide open, cheeks jiggling yelling “Aunt Stel! Aunt Stel!”

My mother loved that little boy. He was her first grand child. She took him around to do everything he wanted. She spoiled him rotten. So to hear that my father had taken him was surprising in a way. As a mother herself, how could she allow this?

“Penny for your thoughts?” Trevor’s voice rang through my head. I was in la la land, ignoring him I realized. We were laying in bed, watching the morning news. I was snuggled in under his arm, my leg draped over his. I could hear shuffling in the hallways and living room. Guards, I assumed.
