“Bram, stop. Who is that guy going into Rye’s room?” A man walks toward Ryes’ room and goes in like he owns the place. He is about 6 foot tall in sweats and a hoodie, which is odd because it is still pretty hot in Texas, so most of us are in shorts after the ceremony, and no one is in a jacket. I cannot see his face, but he has an air of superiority. If we are the four horsemen, shouldn’t we be protecting her? I mind speak Raven to get Marshall and come back.

“Hey, Buddy, stop right there.” By instinct, I rush to the door as it is shut. Before I could crush through the door, I feel Bram grab both my arms and pin them behind me. My body starts a partial shift to get away from him. My bear rushes against my skin, fur sprouts over my upper body. The pain of the hair rushing forward is momentary, but the realization I just shifted without control spooks me. I whisper to my bear to calm because I do not want to hurt Bram.
