Chapter Forty Eight

ELENA

I sat in my new office, which was the next office after Paul's office, which was in turn occupied by Jason, mulling over my crazy morning.

I had never felt so overworked like I currently did, sitting in that office, without actually doing anything. In fact, I had been in the office for less that two hours, and I was sure I had reached my stress limit.

The looks I had gotten, from everyone, as we walked into the company building was enough to make me wish the ground opened and swallowed me whole.

I stared at my now empty second cup of coffee, which I had made for myself and wished it would magically refill itself. But I knew if I did, I would literally be bouncing of my high heels for the rest of the day, so I pushed it aside and focused on work.

There wasn't much for me to do, and I wondered at the awkwardness of it all.

The door to my office opened, and I was about to ask who opened the door without knocking, when I saw Jane peak her head through the door at me.
