Chapter Forty One

"Mum..." I tried to explain. But she was not done, because she was interrupting me immediately, with a long speech I knew was going to come.

"Now, how could you do that to me? I thought Mrs Gilbert was joking, until I went online myself, and had to Google images of you! Your father is hurt! I am hurt! I mean the others are exciteqd...but the church is certainly talking about it... because there was no news about a church wedding!" The next series of statements went by in a blur after she said that. My heart started to squeeze painfully as she mentioned a church wedding. How could I explain to her that this was fake? My parents had been anticipating my marriage, even going as far as bugging me about it which had cemented my not moving back home with them like they had initially thought I would after school.

"...are you even listening to what I'm saying?" She asked, drawing me back to the present.
