3-Home is where the heart is

Emerson POV,

He nodded and stepped inside the big mansion in front of us, it was as if I was glued to my feet when I noticed eyes at every corner debugging me. I felt a profiling head on my face, I gulped down at the eerieness of the pack, and I peeped with a ripping heart.

It wasn't an eye but sculptures of statues hanging on the two sides of the wall.

Killing the fright out of me I rushed behind Alpha Ryder mimicking every step he takes like a child learning how to walk. I bumped into his back, my 5in 3ft height was like a mouse hitting a giant wall, I could barely feel my height.

"This is where you will be staying. Monaco will take you to your lodge, feel free in every corner of the mansion. don't go to the annexe." It sounded like a command even with his sluggish and calm tone.

"Why did you help me?" I managed to ask with every ought I might have harnessed, he quirked his brow. "You heard me right? You're not from my pack for did the mind link to work?"

"I didn't hear you." He said dryly. "And I'm not interested in your questions."

"I know you did, there is no way a stranger. . ."

He didn't reply and focused on the catalogues that were handed over to him by the beta voice that came from the side.

He is very strong and likable but somehow I feel I could relate to the coldness that covers his eyes.

When our eyes met I shivered, this doesn't feel normal and at the corner, I feel some of the nausea gathering. Their glare was suspicious and not anything close to friendliness at all.

"You will be serving Alpha Ryder as his omega." A lady voiced. "Mia, that's my name."

"Omega!" I exclaimed.

I was insulted, mocked and not treated anything human but I still preserve my Alpha features. This is like cutting off my limb.

I can't imagine losing my worth and my freedom in a day. "It doesn't matter what you are from your pack, here you will have to earn your place, to start with omega is the best since you will be serving within the pack house."

I feel anger, hatred and the need to suffocate all at once stepping into my soul. Like a woodpecker that has lost his beak, I bit my tongue to the present and forced a pale smile on the head maid. "I figured out as much as I snickered."

I saw the unpleasant glare on her face. It occurred to me that there is no difference from my back and the Alpha bought me out of his wish. I let out a heavy sigh and rubbed my hand along the rim while walking behind Monaco.

His shoulder was broad and he's very tall, all the packs in. . . "New Orleans, you can have a life you want without discrimination, Alpha Ryder will make sure of it." He put his hand softly on my shoulder leaving me at the entrance of where it's supposed to be my chamber.

I yanked the door open hearing the creak,  I shut it behind me. The white bead in the chamber beside my bed made a ticking sound, the one you will listen to when you're alone in the woods. To the right was a wall-length mirror not far from it was also a very large closet. I couldn't help myself staring at the room as wide as that of my dad and the bed was too comfy from the view of the luxurious blanket to the wooden frame.

"Who is there?" I asked, preening my head through the window into the garage.

As much as I was exhausted and weeping like a baby at the pain I felt from leaving Lafayette for New Orleans and with the most notorious Alpha ever, I felt flashes of how he would rip me apart as a sacrificial lamb.

I was determined to save myself. I was determined to figure out what he is up to.

I slip into my shoe and slowly open the door and close it more quietly to avoid being noticed. I walked around to the desk rubbing my hand along the interior. I pick up a letter, if I have my phone it would have helped me pinpoint when I arrived and what time it was by the evening.

I'm hungry. It's an awkward feeling being hungry in a house that isn't yours. Asshole, I thought, well. . . he owed me nothing, after all, I'm his omega and I only get to hear commands from him or now my head when I break a plate or run the water carelessly.

"Who do we have here?" I didn't hear anything until I  felt a chill through my bone as a hand patted me slowly on my shoulder.

I flipped. "You scared me, what are you doing here?"

"I'm in a more fitted position to ask you that." He cringes his nose, shifting something, obviously my scent.

I should do something, this guy doesn't look friendly. "Well, I. . . I'm new here and I was taking a look around, will your boss have your head because of me Monaco."

Who would be hungry at this hour of the night and he wouldn't believe me if I said I was out looking for what to eat?

"You're the cat girl, Alpha Nicholas brought along, acting like a real cat." He huffed.

I clear my throat. "Words travel fast before I could even step out, wolves and cats don't get along I heard." I take a chuckle expecting a twitch or anything from him. "I'm sorry if I'm being too expressive."

"I'm going to the neighbouring house," he says. "You want to tag along?"

I don't know if this is right but with the pull weight in my heart, I couldn't have turned him down, "Yes, if it sounds cool stepping out. I mean thank you." Monaco held the door for me.

Monaco walks backwards. "Don't stare too much, it will show you're a stranger."

"Alright." I hate parties.

My shoulder elevated at the feeling of belonging, and I trailed behind him.

When he takes a step forward,

"Alpha Loworth Ryder never loses his charm with the ladies," Monaco muttered as he stepped forward. My gaze travelled around with curiosity. Oh, my God. I cover my mouth with unsteady fingers. No, no, no!

He removed his hand from the lady's thigh and they locked their lips kissing, I swallowed hard as his strong hand ripped off muscles that were moving back and forth in between her legs.

Ryder with his other hand holding the glass of bourbon pulled away and I had my eyes on his perfect abs, another lady snuggled up to him with passionate eyes begging him for a kiss while her eyes scanned his waistline, I snapped my eyes from him.  And looked at the poolside at the guys swimming to distract me.

I gasped and spun around coming face to face with Ryder. "What are you doing here?"

"I missed my road." I trembled.

"Doesn't seem like one." He snickered.

"We, I uhm…" I've never been a conversationalist since I was the outcast of our pack but feeling his eyes all over me makes me uncomfortable. "I followed Monaco down here, I couldn't sleep."

"You want to learn?" He had his eyes fixed on the blond that swayed her thick ass in the air and a man walked up grabbed her by the waist and rubbed it against himself. I gulped looking away.

"Learn what?" He nods towards them.

"You must be tired." I changed the topic and he chuckled. Dropping the glass of bourbon beside him. “Do you work better at night?”

“Yeah. I stay up pretty late and then sleep in most

mornings. I hope that’s not an issue." He leans against the counter as he stares at me.

"No not at all, I'm actually a night owl too." I spilt. Since my father's death, sleep has been the last thing that came to my eyes.

I can't even make eye contact with him. All I think of when I look at him is the part when his hand was in between the lady's leg and he sucked out her lips. God, I should have seen that now I will be blushing anything I loom in his direction. He has a nice hand now that he's standing close to me and that doesn't help the situation.

I need to change the direction of my thoughts!

"Go back to where you come from." He pointed the bourbon towards the exit as a blond walked up to him.

"Alpha Ryder." She bit her tongue.

"I'm not leaving here until I want to," I said annoyingly.

"I won't repeat it."

"You're in no position to order me." I bit back.

"I'm not? I own you, and you can't do anything about that." He rubbed his hand cupping my chin and tilting my head up.

"What if uh, they find out I'm your mate?" I'm not supposed to know any of these. He grinds his jaw and stares into my eyes hitting his hand hard on the car bonnet. He stood above me staring into my eyes. He snickered.

"Don't you dare?"

"The perfect Alpha right, are you going to send me home to figure out why you went over a wage?" He looked back and then at me again, this time his eyes were not on me they were on something else. He started like a lost soul, I don't gave a herb or dinner on me.
