Chapter 56

Natalia:

I was supervising the work being done by the maids. I didn’t want anything to go wrong. Suddenly, my phone rang. I looked at the screen and saw that Klein was the caller. Why was he calling me? I wondered. Does he now remember that I’m still mad at him?

I rolled my eyes and took a deep breath before reaching for my phone on the side table to pick up the call.

“What is it, Klein?” I said, trying not to sound rude over the phone.

“Can I see you, please?” Klein said.

“I’m a bit busy, Klein. I don’t think I have the time to come and see you now,” I answered.

“I promise I won’t take your time. I’m downstairs. Please come if you can,” Klein said, his voice dripping with sadness.

I sighed and rolled my eyes at the same time before replying,

“Fine. I’ll be there in a second,” I answered.

“Thank you, Talia, thank you,” he said, sounding excited.

I ended the call and put the phone back into my back pocket. I looked around, making sure that no one was looking before s
