ARABELLA POV

“What did you just say?” He asked.

“Lily,” I repeated slowly. “You know, the one that’s Arabella’s friend?”

His hand shook a little, and then he concealed it. I frowned slightly when he didn’t reply to me.

“Don’t you know her?” I asked. “I swear that she said she’s been in your proximity before.”

Rhys held up both his palms in the air, trying to understand what was going on. Finally he asked:

“What are you doing speaking to Lily?”

I shrugged nonchalantly. “She’s my new friend; she seems to be the only person who’s really honest, you know? Though we haven’t spoken much.”

“What did you two speak about? Matter of fact, you know that associating with Lily will only make Mia upset.”

I arched my eyebrow, making him see the sarcastic expression on my face. Rhys chuckled and continued.

“That isn’t what I mean, Emma. All I’m saying is, Mia is enemies with a few people and I think you should lay off those people.”
