Seventy seven

ARABELLA POV

I was attending to a patient when I walked in with a kid. I glanced at her briefly before finishing up with my patient. With the number of patients coming in each day, I constantly have to keep up to track. The woman who came in was standing impatiently, her eyes roving about, looking for someone. I finished up with the patient I was with and decided to go meet her.

“Excuse me,” I said with a smile. “I saw you come in. Is there anything I can help you with?”

As I asked that question, I looked down at the child she was holding. She was not more than 6 years old, though I could not be sure. Children these days grew bigger than their age.

“I want Dr. Evans,” the woman said.

“Your child doesn’t seem too good,” I said, noting the perspiration that ran down the sides of her face. “Do you want me to check her and see if she’s okay? Is that it?”

“I want Dr. Evans!” the woman practically roared. “I’m not listening to anyone else but Dr. Evans!”
