Miranda’s P.O.VI woke up with an unfamiliar sensation pulsating through my head. It was akin to a sledgehammer being repeatedly smashed against my skull and I almost screamed out loud at the intensity of the headache I was currently having. With my eyes still closed, I sat up straight and held my temple with both my hands. I groaned out loud as the intensity would not subside. Maybe a shower would help ease the pain, I reasoned mentally and then slid out of the bed ever so slowly. I opened my eyes and was greeted by the lovely (not) sun’s rays, making me squint them until they adjusted to the luminosity before I went into the bathroom.I didn’t immediately go into the shower but searched the cabinets for some pain medication or a first aid kit, and thankfully I found a bottle of Tylenol. Taking a glass from the same cabinet, I popped two tablets into my mouth before washing them down with water. After, I looked in the mirror and finally noticed just how unkempt and discombobulated I
Miranda’s P.O.VThis morning I could sense a shift in the atmosphere for one reason, and one reason alone. Davien had instructed me to head to the office alone with Christian, whilst he said he would be driving himself to work from now onwards. I couldn’t tell if he was trying to keep up this façade of us not actually living together or he was still mad at me for what I said to him the other day. It was probably the latter. After the lunch with Giorgia, where I was all fake smiles and forced laughs, we barely interacted. He mostly kept to himself, and I only saw him during mealtimes. This morning, I made breakfast for the both of us, but he hadn’t come down and instead sent me a text message to go on to work. An effing text message! Can you believe that? We were under the same roof and yet he found it sensible to communicate via texts. It was both childish and unbelievable, that the entire car ride to work I was basically fuming.Angrily sauntering into the lobby of the building, I mar
Miranda’s P.O.V“Are you sure about this, Miranda? You really don’t think that you must do this because you are literally giving him the upper hand. He will get away with exactly what he wants,” Donovan muttered lowly disdainfully, giving me a pleading look. I had already made up my mind. I had to do this otherwise that evil man would follow through with his threats, and heaven only knows that he does follow through with his malicious motives. I nodded my head with a grim expression on my face. Michael sat across from me with his hard-headed and equally hard-faced lawyer, Ms. Jenkins. I blew out an uneasy breath before picking up the pen and scrawling my signature on the divorce papers. Next, I slid it over to Michael who happily added his impression and smirked triumphantly, knowing that he had very well accomplished exactly what he wanted…get a taste of the money he never ever worked for using dirty means.Ms Jenkins picked up her huge binder and arranged it noisily on the table. “
Third Person’s P.O.VThe photoshoot was turning out to be a lot more enjoyable than Davien had imagined. From the moment Miranda stepped out of the changing room and into his line of vision, he knew he was done for. Of course, he’d known for a long time that she was beautiful, but how she was dressed and the make up made it ten times more obvious. He felt a tug at his heart strings, and when their eyes locked…the magnetism was too consuming. As much as he tried to play it off as mild impression, he couldn’t exactly keep his eyes off her and it seemed he wasn’t the only one. Michael, who stood beside him, also kept his gaze intently on her, but his expression was undecipherable; a mixture of want and anger. And he hated Michael for even looking at her in that way; for heaven’s sake, he’d treated her like garbage for so long that she was doubting her own self-worth now.Their heated exchange a few days earlier had left him somewhat wounded, and his ego was quite bruised. And for some ti
Chapter 36: Adding Fuel to The FireMiranda’s P.O.VThe photoshoot went better than I had anticipated, and Mr. Gaston was pleased with the results. So much so that he had promised to give me a hefty paycheck for it, and it would be a lie if I said I wasn’t excited about that. What I was most pleased about was that I had managed to get the desired effect out of Davien; he was totally hot and bothered by what he had seen today, and it brought a wicked smile to my face.Once it was all done and dusted, Anita gave me a huge hug and a pat on the back. “You were great, darling! Absolutely brilliant. I cannot wait for the billboards, magazine articles and tv ads. People are going to freak!” she shrieked happily, leading me back into the dressing room. It was not longer packed as before, and people were getting ready to put their things away. When I was halfway done changing back into my navy blue satin blouse and white pencil skirt, Anita came to me with a huge black cover bag. “This is for
Miranda’s P.O.VMy night was anything but restful and by now, it’s obvious why. I woke up quite grumpy, took a shower even grumpier and when I was getting ready, my grumpiness had reached its peak. I was desperately trying to find an outfit that would cover my neck area because of those blasted hickeys a certain Casanova gave me last night and let’s just say I didn’t have that many options. I could have covered them up with makeup, but they were so visible that I’d have do dab a lot of concealers, which I didn’t have time for. Finally, I found a long-sleeved white body con dress with a turtleneck and ended mid-thigh; the only downside was it was backless.Backlessness be damned! Living those damned hickeys on display would be a lot worse. Throwing caution to the wind, I put it on, let my hair down and left my face devoid of any makeup. Yes, I looked tired but like I said, I didn’t have much time left to take care of that given the fact that I’d also somehow managed to wake up later th
Third Person’s P.O.VDavien stood up, seemingly stunned by the presence of the woman and when he went over to give her huge hug, Miranda was taken aback. “Chloe!” he gushed and spun her around, making Miranda’s eyes widen as well. What the actual hell? “Oh my gosh, look at you! You look amazing. How long has it been?”Chloe, who was dressed in a white crop top showing off her four pack abs and a pair of ripped denim jeans with white Timberlands smiled affectionately at Davien, even cupping his face. “Nine years, if my memory serves me well. It’s so good to see you, D,” she pronounced in a thick and aristocratic British accent, stroking his cheeks with her thumbs.Something like a needle pierced Miranda’s chest and a surge of jealousy so potent almost made her stumble back. Christian came to her side and deposited the gift she had bought for D’Alessandro in her arms. “If you need me, I’ll be just around the corner,” he whispered in her ear before disappearing all together. From what
Third Person’s P.O.VWhen Miranda discovered that Michael had been cheating on her, she had thought her world had come crashing down. But seeing Davien locking lips with the woman who he’d been in love with for quite some time was even worse than that. Granted, he hadn’t been the one who did the kissing, but it still hurt to watch. And the cruelty of the situation was that it kept replaying in her mind.Christian glanced at her through the view mirror but hadn’t spoken a word in the last twenty minutes. “Ms. Worthington, I’m not sure what happened back there but I am sorry if you got hurt in any way. However, I might just lose my job over this,” he told her and she looked down at her lap, a few tears falling onto her lap.“Sorry, Chris. I wasn’t thinking. I won’t let you lose your job,” she sniffed before bringing her phone out of her clutch. Scrolling her few contacts, she settled for Angela’s. Angela picked up after two rings. “Miranda! So good of you to call,” she beamed and Mirand
