24. Trying to Set Boundaries

Nikkie's POV

"What's wrong with you? Are you mad at me? You've been acting weird since yesterday!" Krystal retorted in a tone that had gone up an octave. Krystal's gaze flashed defiantly at her husband.

That's right. This time, I was sure there was something wrong with Richard. Krystal had been behaving normally and pleasantly all day. The problem is with Richard.

Didn't Richard say that the problem between him and Krystal was over? Or is it not? Krystal rolled her eyes in annoyance. She turned her body around, left the dining room, and went to the second floor.

Krystal left me and Richard in awkward silence. I know, generally, at a time like this, people would lose their appetite. But not me. I still felt hungry.

However, eating at a time like this would be rude, wouldn't it?

As I was still staring at the almost-cold chicken soup, my ears picked up the sound of shoe treads descending the stairs.
