Chapter Two

The problem with moving to a new place when you know no one and are expecting someone is the annoying brick called anticipation residing in your stomach layered with cements of skeptism.

I was laying on my made up bed after packing all my stuff, making my side of the dorm room honey to me and taking a shower. The walls were white washed, and while my roommate's side of the room was covered in posters of some boy band, my side was clear, I had some of my novels neatly arranged beside my bed, beside them was a framed picture of my family at the farm, and a digital clock that doubled as an alarm in the shape of a strawberry. Then nothing else.

My sheets were white with little pink flowers, and everything about my side was neat and tidy. I liked my space neat and tidy all the time, but that's not all, I wanted to make a good first impression. Something my roommate will appreciate, I hoped she would like me, or at least she wouldn't have issues with me.

She certainly didn't have issues making a mess. Her bed was unmade, her make up was all over the bed, a bra was definitely hanging off the side of her bed post, some books were on the floor and her black, orange and green sheets seemed to have some ink stains on them... basically, my mom would have a cardiac arrest if she ever walks in on this. Felix however, could care less, as long as that wasn't my side, of course.

An hour passed of me just laying down and waiting until I took my novel and begun reading, an hour passed and she still wasn't back, and it wasn't getting dark. Thirty minutes before I fell asleep.

I woke up with a start upon hearing a loud noise. I looked around disoriented and I could barely even see anything in the dark. I heard muttering and cursing and a lot of shuffling and it briefly occured to my that it might be my roommate. I stretched slightly and turned on the light switch above my bed. Harsh white light flooded the room, leaving me momentarily blinded.

"Ah fuck! Bitch give a warning before you do that!" I trained my eyes on her, my roommate as she finally sat on her bed. She was the exact opposite of me, in every sense. Her jet back hair was thrown up in two messy buns, with a few strands framing her face. She had make up on, and even her make up was a mess, her cherry red lipstick was smeared and her mascara was all...she was a mess, I have no idea how else to put it. A quick glance at my clock showed me it was a little past midnight, and it looked to me like she was from somewhere, no one stayed in school till after midnight and comes back looking so disheveled.

She was tan and even though it was dark and her features were concealed by all that make up, it was obvious that she was beautiful. She wore jeans shorts that left all of her thighs exposed, and a black crop top paired with a rather pretty chocker necklace. She had boots on, ones she was quickly getting off her feet.

She was nothing like me, where her hair was jet black, I was a red head, and while she had smooth tan skin without a blemish in sight, my checks were peppered in freckles. She had sultry brown eyes and I had green doe eyes. She had pouty lips and I had thin lips

"I'm sorry" I murmured.

"Yeah sure, whatever. Just stay out of my space." She called rudely, and after struggling and successfully kicking off her boots, turned to lay in her bed, the when she realized it had everything she left on it still on it, she got up and let out a frustrated screamed, loud enough to pierce my ears.

"You fucking imbecile, you jerk! Damn you, I just wanna fucking sleep, asshole!" She yelled and threw the sheets off the bed, make up and all. Then she settled on the naked bed, turned to the wall, and made herself comfortable. Silence followed, and I'd be lying if I didn't say I wasn't shocked and a little scared of her. Then just when I was about to get comfortable and sleep, she suddenly yelled out.

"Turn the damn lights out!" I jolted in the bed from shock, and immediately turned the lights off. Then lay down cautiously, careful not to make a sound and upset her. I lay down stiff as a board for at least twenty minutes before I managed to fall asleep.

~~~
Annoying ringing, faintly. I wanted it to stop but I couldn't wake up, it was just a dream.
Sweet dream...
Smack!
I jolted awake, the faint annoying ringing was not faint but so loud in my ear, it took a moment for me to realize that it was from my alarm, I quickly turned it off with a groan. I never like alarms, honestly, I didn't think there was anyone who like them. But I had to carry one with me because my mother insisted she didn't want me sleeping in and missing any classes,so this was the best way. Just my first day and I was beginning to hate it, a lot. I glared at the pink strawberry of an alarm and wished I could throw it out the window. Considering I was on the fourth floor, it was sure to meet it's untimely demise by the time it hit the ground.
I lifted my eyes briefly to be met with a very nasty glare from my roommate who was sitting up with bloodshot eyes that screamed murder. I gulped.
"I'm sorry, I..."
"Give me my damn pillow, and if I hear that annoying little strawberry again, I will shove it down your throat, you feel me?!" She growled, scared was an understatement for how I was feeling. I was ready to bolt.
I took her pillow from my bed and realized that that's what smacked me and woke me up. I got up and extended the pillow to her, she snatched it, put it on the bed and lay on it. I warily stood there for a minute or two and when it was obvious she had gone back to sleep, I let out a breath of relief.
The devil is appeased.
