The funeral procession went on like it should, sniffles and all.

Harvey was the one who was holding Marie from tears.

Everyone wondered why she was crying. No one knew.

Even Joe wondered where Mina was.

The undeundertakers put sand on the grave, covering it.

Epilogue

A few years later

Joe Wolford walked down the hallway. He'd never get used to the ceiling, which seemed to be alive.

The drawings from the war they'd fought a few years earlier.

It wasn't exactly a victory.

He'd lost a lot.

Emily wrapped her hand around his arm.

He nodded at her.

She'd been the one who helped him walk through his pain. She'd been his pillar.

"It's beautiful", he said taking a deep breath.

"But not as beautiful as me", she said.

He laughed. "Yeah. You're the most beautiful woman in the world".

"Most beautiful? Now you're too much", she said with a smile.

"Most beautiful. In the whole wide world".
