Chapter 09: Kaira, The Daughter of Ares

"Aries, did you bring this ungrateful captain to our home?"

Every constellation group has captains that serve as their leaders, Aries is the captain of the zodiacs while Levi Manowar is the captain of the Southern birds (Phoenix, Grus, Pavo and Tucana).

"I just heard what Captain Aries did." Levi stares at Aries. Aries just looks away.

"and I thought I should add to the fire of this one of a lifetime opportunity."

But Jin never liked Levi. He is just so cunning and cold. He likes war and doesn't like peace. He hates the Ursa Major family and he will do anything just to end them and since the Ursa major constellation is an ally of the Sun, he constantly thinks that the Moon Guardian will side with him in his most anticipated war.

"Tsk, We are not going to start the war, Levi." Jin says, firm and clear.

"The war has already started. The moment that those sun giants landed on your land, they already started it. Helios will know where you are in days, you have to be ready, our dear Moon Guardian." Levi says, deadpanning at Jin.

The Ursa Major is the only opposing family Southern birds and Zodiacs have.

"Still--"

"They had been disrespecting you since your first year as our guardian, Jinan. What are you even thinking? Are you just gonna let those bastards step on us?" Levi says.

"Stop it, Levi! It's my fault. I'm the only one that should suffer--not the lunarians."

"You're right. I wouldn't let my little sister, Mika grow in a place bombing and screaming war so I thought we should just crash here on earth." Levi says, still showing no emotions in his eyes. "These people don't even deserve to live on the most beautiful planet in the solar system."

“I’m not going to let you destroy this world, Captain Manowar.” Jinan says through gritted teeth.

“If you don’t act fast and let me do what has to be done, your bride will be in danger in no time. I could sense Helios and Ares planning to play you dirty. Don’t be stupid.”

“Don’t you dare speak like that to our Guardian---”  Aries warns, her constellation mark on her arm glows and her hand burns with fire, creating her famous weapon that she used to cut the captain of the gigantes’ head.

Levi smirks. Here she goes again. Being so hot tempered and impulsive.

“No-- Aries!” Jin says and 

“Argh!” Aries groans and attacks Levi.

Thankfully, Levi needn't lose his head just like the gigante did. He is the best soldier of the galaxy, or if there isn’t any better, the best soldier of the universe. He managed to block Aries’s sword with his double bladed sword that was forged by the best blacksmith of the Phoenix clan, the Phoenix herself, Levi’s mother.

“Sweetheart, if you think your fire sword is enough to annihilate or hurt me in even the slightest bit with that weak fire sword of yours, I assume you don’t know how my mother forged this double bladed glory for me by my mother.” Levi grins but Aries manages to pull her sword away and smack Levi’s head with her sword’s pommel.

“All you know is bragging about your mother’s abilities. You’re a grown ass man, until when do you plan to grow after your mother’s shadow, huh?”

“Argh? You--”

“It’s decided, I’m not gonna play with you Levi.” Jin says and leaves the room.

....

“Flynn, you’re my bride. You’re bound to me and don’t you ever dare to think that you can run from a destiny that had been written long before you were born.”

Flynn bangs her head on her bathroom door and let the cold shower rinse her unwanted thoughts?

“Hey, Flynn. Why did you let him do that to you? Why did you let him hug you? Why did you let him speak like that to you as if he didn’t do anything hideous and monstrous in your first life?” she asks herself. “No, this has to stop.”

She finishes her short shower session and thoughts.

She picks her phone and dials a number. She needs to be distracted and this person is meant to become a huge distraction and annoyance in her life and she knows that.

(Yes?)

“Hey, Hee Sun. Can you meet me outside?”

…

“He took the bait, what are we waiting for?” Ares asks, Helios just stares at him and replies,

“I need to confirm something before I let you have your fun, Ares.” he says, “and I need your wife to do something for me.”

“What is it?”

“Make me an army of loyal soldiers.” Helios says with a sly smirk on his face.

“My wife, Mila, is the goddess of diseases and healing, how can she be of help in this war?” Ares asks with a confused expression in his face.

“That’s right, I’ll be needing her to spread a disease for me, how else will those people become my soldiers if I don’t control them?”

“He’s an asshole, honestly.” Flynn tells herself as she pulls the laces of her backpack and takes a deep sigh. She’s currently on a mountain, hiking with her deep and confused thoughts inside, hoping to find peace and serenity up the mountains and beneath the clouds.

By the time she reached half of her destination,  the clouds just turned gray and started rumbling as if it’s threatening her.

“Ugh? Sorry but I don’t get scared easily. I won’t even budge even if you--”

The world actually stopped, the clouds got darker and the thunder and lightning appeared and sounded more and more powerful.

“Really? Even if I appear in front of you like this? You won’t get scared?” a woman, tall and fair, with very black long hair appeared by her front. She’s wearing all black and only one thing got into Flynn’s mind that made her ask,

“Are you one of this mountain’s cult? Are you their leader? I’m sorry but I don’t think I want to come with you. I don’t have a religion so bye. The way up is steep, be careful.” Flynn says, walking fast and trying to ignore the weird woman.

“Hey! You crazy bitch! Are you seriously ignoring me right now?” the woman shouts.

Flynn just continues walking and ignores the girl, it then rains and she curses.

“Why am I so unlucky today?”

“I am Kaira! Daughter of Ares! HOW DARE YOU IGNORE ME LIKE THIS?”

a lightning struck the tree right beside Flynn and her eyes widened in shock, “w-what?” She looks back and she sees the woman floating in the air with lightning striking back and forth her body. As if she is the one that makes them. The air around them moves so fast and is almost blinding Flynn, as if she is inside the eye of a storm.

Jinan looks at the mountain at the back of his house and sees the storm slaughtering the huge steep mountain. His eyes widen when he realises something.

“Is there something wrong, Moon Guardian?” Levi asks as he hears Jin suck on his breath and gasp.

“Since when could a storm be that small as if it's only made to flatten a specific area?” he asks. Trying his best not to believe that Helios or Ares really is starting their attack on him and if they decide to play dirty, they will get to Flynn to hurt her or kill her first so that he’ll snap back at them.

“Shit.” Yoon curses.

“Kaira?” Aries asks.

Joon nods. “Ares’s daughter, the goddess of storms and weather.”

“Aries, call the other constellations. Levi, I’ll leave you on command and plan for this war’s furnishing. The rest will come with me and save my bride.” 

…

“Who the hell are you?” As of this moment, Flynn already couldn’t see anything. The storm is getting more and more strong. debris of leaves, stones and everything makes her visibility drop to zero.

“Do you see me now? I’m Kaira, son of Mila and Ares. Not a low life like you could just ignore me.”

This Kaira son of whoever appears to be narcissistic and arrogant but seems to have nothing but air in her head. She could kill Flynn at any moment from now with her powers and Flynn has to come up with great decisions to save herself from this witch.

“Right? Kaira, son of Ares and Mila. I see. What do you need from me?”

“I have to kill you and bring your head as a trophy of achievement to my father.” Kaira smiles devilishly as she thinks of the praises that she will hear after she comes to bring this mere human’s head into their palace. “And then my father will let me become his heir.”

Oh, so she’s only a dog to her manipulative father? How pathetic,

“I see. But will your father be happy if you kill me with your powers and not your fighting skills?” Please, bite into the bait.

Kaira suddenly looks at Flynn. Her greed and pride for victory won’t let her win miraculously and unfairly. That is just not right.

“You’re right. You’re quite smarter than I thought, Moon Guardian’s bride.” Kaira agrees. “My father will not love me enough if I win unfairly and without exerting effort.”

“You’re not just beautiful, you’re smart,too. I’m sure your father will be proud of you.” Flynn says and smiles as wide as she could. Just a little more and she’s out of here.

“What do you say? Are you confident enough to win me by hand? I have been trained to fight since I was a child.”

“Could you give me a weapon? So that I could fight you at least?”

“Fine, fine.” a lightning strikes and lands on her hand and a silver spear appears. “Have this.” She throws the spear to Flynn and Flynn immediately grips on it.

“Wow, you can do that, too?”

“I can do much more! If you only know and if only my father could see that!”

“Right, and do you want to hear some advice before you go?”

“Huh, what is it? And where am I going?”

“I don’t know where you’ll be going, maybe in hell?” Flynn smirks and throws the spear in the air, directly at Kaira before she could even react, “love from parents shouldn’t be earned, it’s their responsibility to love you whether you are able or not, weak or strong. You never needed to prove anything to them for them to love you.”

The next thing Kaira knew is that she messed up and she’d rather die here than to show up in her father’s lair in shame, she grips on the spear that pierced through her flesh and heart.

“R-right? Why did I feel like I needed to do something for my dad to love me? I must be crazy.” she says as she puts more pressure on the spear, Flynn winces as Kaira digs the spear more in her heart. Killing herself. “I’m free now, aren’t I?” and with that she closed her eyes and her hands dropped on the ground. Kaira is dead and Flynn killed her. She’s now as dirty as Jinan that killed Lee and her father that killed her dear mother. A monster.

“Enjoy your newly found freedom, Kaira. The pitiful daughter of a manipulative father. You don’t deserve that shit.” Flynn stares at her body for a moment and sighs, She then decides to get the spear from her chest and apologize.

“And I’m sorry if I killed you, I cannot become a trophy for your victory. I won’t get killed just like Lee did.” the sound of the spear getting out from the goddess’s flesh tears Flynn’s ears, it’s just disgusting. “And let me use this gift of yours from now on. I just feel like I will need it again, thank you and sorry. Kaira, daughter of Ares.”
