Declan’s POV

I woke with a heavy weight pressing down on my chest, the events of the previous day still fresh in my mind. The attack we had suffered at the hands of our enemies gnawed at me like a festering wound, reminding me of the responsibilities that weighed heavily upon my shoulders.

Despite my sour mood, I knew that as the Alpha, I had duties to fulfill. With a deep breath, I pushed aside my personal grievances and rose from my bed, steeling myself for the challenges ahead.

I attended meetings that morning, listened to reports, and issued orders with a sense of grim determination. But it was when I met with Caden, that the true weight of our situation settled upon me.

“Caden,” I said, my voice gruff with exhaustion as I entered his office. “I need you to gather our warriors for a meeting. We need to strategize how to reduce our losses the next time those bastards come knocking.”
