"I've been open enough letting you know my sad past, is that still not enough?"

I nodded quickly in response, of course I wanted to know the mysteries that were still hidden within Axe, when he didn't offer to open up. I should have done that a long time ago, instead of getting caught up in uncertain feelings to the point of forgetting my main goal.

"I'm so sorry, Bridgette. I can't keep telling you about my bitter life back then, it'll make me feel even worse."

This time Axe spoke with his head bowed deeply, as if he didn't want me to see his face. He succeeded in making me feel guilty as well as hurt by his sudden fear.

I warily lifted the downcast face until my bitter smile broke out as I stared at Axe's unreadable look.

I blinked quickly to neutralize my emotions that had been stirred up by seeing him like this. It was wrong of me to force him to be an open person when that was the hardest thing for Axe to do.
