Chapter 53

Clara collected the empty glass cup from her husband and went to the kitchen to drop it. By the time she came back, Alex had slept off on the sofa.

Clara only chuckled. Was he so tired that he couldn't go up? She proceeded to take off his jacket and his briefcase upstairs.

When dinner was ready, she would wake him to come and eat.

She decided to give Sophia a call like she had wanted, to ask for some advice and also tell her about what was happening.

Sadly, Sophia wasn't picking up her calls. So to keep herself busy, Clara decided to apply to more companies, there was no way she would be working for Henry Brown.

Just in time, after she was done with everything she wanted to do, the servants came to inform her that dinner was ready.

Clara came down to wake Alex up, he seemed so weak but he stood and joined her for their meals after which he slept off right away.

Though Clara couldn't place her hands on why Alex acted so weak, she didn’t think about that so much since he had a lot to do
