Kai’s POV

I heard all of it.

From the little “clank” sounds as she moved through the metal tunnels, to the little clank that the tunnel covering had made when she’d pushed it open, but at first I didn't know she was the one approaching me.

I’d first of all heard the ceiling creak unusually and as a light sleeper that was also ridden with an inability to sleep without nightmares, I woke up instantly. At that point, I had no idea who was there but I didn't make a peep because I was eager to meet the rascal that dared to sneak up on me at night.

However, when the she got closer to the edge of the tunnel, I picked up her unmistakable sent immediately and I realized that no one else asides from her would dare to pull off such a foolish scheme.
