49: Pissed him off

Cora’s POV

“I’d rip that off in a second if you misbehave at the ball” Kai whispered in my ears the second he was at my side and I pulled away to see a smug smile on his face.

For the briefest moment while he was staring at me, I’d assumed that it was only because of how beautiful I looked but after hearing the words he spoke, I mentally whacked myself for thinking that he’d ever admire me innocently.

“I'll be keeping this on and I'll be claiming my free pass too” I shot him a glare.

“Those words were a promise, not a threat,” He said before bent his arm to create a loop where mine was meant to be intertwined with his.

It was odd to see him honoring formal traditions.

“Hand, now” He nodded toward his arm.

“You’re not fooling anyone by pretending to be a gentleman” I responded after locking arms with him.

He pulled me so I was face to face with him.

“Nothing you think matters to me, just so we're clear” He suddenly had a thing for whispering.
