51: No voices no pain

Cora’s POV

Everyone’s eyes were on me as I slowly walked out of the glass case, my hands and legs were trembling slightly and I wished that the ground would open underneath me that very second and swallow me.whole before I died from embarrassment.

Despite knowing that my wobbly legs would do a poor job at it, I decided to run away in that very second before I made things worse by bursting into tears before everyone and accepting defeat, just as he’d have loved to see.

No, I wouldn't give him that satisfaction.

Instantly, I started to run out of the hall, life my entire life depended of it.

I kept running, my eyes blinded with the tears I’d been forcing back as I gripped the remains of my dress and tried to cover what was left of my dignity. My heart was drumming fast and hard against my rib, every single sound I heard as I ran was causing me a splitting headache as it magnified and I wondered why.
