53: Recipient of his anger

Cora’s POV

It was 5am and my day had already been ruined by the forces that be.

The head matron’s ears must’ve been pumping out smoke but I didn't care about that one bit, for the past hour she’d been scolding me about skipping out on my chores and telling me how much she didn't care for me and Kai’s weird dynamic as long as it didn't affect the position she’d kissed ass to get to.

It was all mumbo jumbo to me and I’d completely zoned out of the conversation three sentences in because Nina had filled me in on the primary reason for her lash out, but the loud noise from the store door being slammed behind her jolted me back to reality immediately.

“To your post now, and this had better not happen again” She warned me sternly with a finger pointed at me while I narrowed my eyes at her unapologetically.

Awkward seconds of silence went by and I realized that she must’ve been expecting an apology or some sort of response to her rant, but I had no plans of offering her either of those optio
