Realising his mistake

Nik's pov

"You look so stressed out." Rowan mentioned immediately I walked into my study the next morning.

"And you're quite early. Good morning, Beta." I greeted him before sitting down behind my desk to start the day's work. I and Rowan had a lot to do to the Pack's finances after Nipix.

"Morning Alpha." His baritone voice was glaced with a hint of sarcasm.

"Are those eyebags I see?" Rowan noticed.

"I couldn't sleep." I confessed. Tossing and turning on my side all night had definitely done a number on me.

Noya's teary face kept popping up in my head and had stopped sleep. I had thought so hard about the matter and that just maybe I had missed the last piece of the puzzle which would vindicate Noya not because I cared but because I didn't like giving biased judgment but I ended up with the same answer.

I tossed till daybreak without as much of a wink of sleep. I pulled out a ledger from my drawer to work on when I realised Rowan's eyes were drilling holes into me.
