Chapter 22: Allergic to Roses

I was still pretending to be asleep. I didn't open my eyes until I heard footsteps going away. I heard a deep sigh next to me so I slowly opened my eyes to see who it was.

Edmund's dark eyes greeted me. His appearance is tough.

"H-Hi..." I said.

My throat felt dry.

He acted easily and without saying a word handed me the water he poured from a jug on the table not far from the hospital bed.

"Drink first."

I took the glass but he was still supporting my every move.

I finished a glass of water and then handed it back to him.

"T-Thank you..."

He took the glass and stood up to put it back on the table.

"Get some rest, Lily."

I snorted immediately.

"But I've been resting for a long time..."

How many days have I been here and it feels like a decade? I did nothing but sleep, answer the doctor and eat. I caught up with Edmund when I woke up but he was also leaving.

He sighed and returned to my side. He gently caressed my hair so that I stared at his tense jaw.

Is he angry?
