DOMINIK's POV

I walked briskly down the forest path, my eyes fixed on the ground as I tried to ignore the nagging pain in my chest. Luis, my beta, walked beside me, his steps light and easy. I could feel his curious gaze on me, but I didn't have the energy to look up and meet it.

We were on our way to see Ube, the well-known magician who could supposedly help me open a portal to the realm where Claire was. I missed her dearly and couldn't bear to be without her for much longer. I had to find a way to get her back.

"Are you sure this is a good idea, Alpha?" Luis spoke up, breaking the silence between us.

I sighed heavily, knowing what he was getting at. "I have to try, Luis. I can't just sit here and do nothing."

"I know, but Ube...he's a bit of a recluse, isn't he?" Luis said, his tone hesitant.

I nodded, remembering what I had heard about the magician. "Yes, but he's our only hope. And besides, we've come this far already."
