None of the tenants had any criminal records.

But then again most of them were rich bastards like us. Money talks. You pay enough and your past could disappear forever.

Elias had installed the extra security but it didn’t do much to set any of us at ease. We were making plans to rearrange things so we could make a safe room for Daisy.

Elias was always at home, but on the rare case when all three of us had to go out, we wanted her to have a place where she felt safe.

We were still deciding on what room to change into a safe room.

My eyes darted over to the window.

Dark rain clouds were starting to roll in. In a few hours, it was going to start raining. I needed to stop by the office before that happened. When it rains, there’s always bad traffic.

I closed the files on my computer and stood.

Voices drifted towards me as I walked down the hall. Elias was busy baking something and Daisy sat at the counter, dipping her fingers into the bowls and tasting whatever was in it.
