29. DAISY

One thing I hated about what happened to me, was the anxiety that filled me when something simple happened. For instance, the doorbell ringing. It was the third time someone had rung it.

I knew that you needed a code to get up to the penthouse, so it was probably someone they knew, but the scared part of my mind filled with images of the faceless man who liked sending me messages.

Elias was showering.

I took a step back, trying to be as quiet as possible so whoever was outside didn’t hear me.

The door handle twisted, making me freeze. I sucked in a sharp breath when the door slowly inched open. It snapped me into action. Spinning around, I ran down the hallway towards Elias's room.

Closing the bedroom door softly, I turned the lock and then hurried into the bathroom.

I climbed into the shower and gripped his slippery arm.

“Daisy, what-”

“S-someone’s in the apartment,” I hissed. “The door was open, they’re inside.”
